  • Happy New Year

Happy New Year Wriggly Bear 😊 Well it’s 12 o clock in the afternoon on the 01/01/17 and me and Mummy are still in bed. Last night we had a small party as we do ever new year, and had some family around Nanny Flo and Grandad Ernie, who are your Daddy’s Mum and Dad, and dreaded in laws to your Mummy, Auntie Debbie and Uncle Jason, who are Daddy’s sister and brother in law and their little boy Jayden who will be your cousin. Nanny Flo had a little to much to drink and shot mummy in the face with a Nerf gun, but apart from that everyone had a great time.

Laying in bed cuddling with mummy I can’t help feeling very emotional about all the good things that will happen this year. I feel 2017 is going to be busy and very fun packed and not to mention all the fun we are going to have when you arrive.

  • Our Trip To Kiddicare

Now we know your arrival is imminent, we took a trip to Kiddicare, a store for all the things we would need to look after you. We looked round and found a travel system we liked but couldn’t get much info about it, so took the name and decided to see what we could find when we got home. We did leave with an egg travel bed for when we take you away places.
So when we got home we found your travel system cheaper and more locally so off we trotted and pick it up. After a bit of fiddling about I managed to construct all parts, and are now sitting in your room awaiting your arrival.

As you can see, Nismo our little black cat helped me and she can’t wait to meet you.

  • First Scan Appointment

Well, today we went to the hospital to get Mummy’s tummy scanned and to see how many of you there are. So, 9:20 we were in the waiting room with Mummy nursing a VERY full bladder waiting for the appointment. After an extended wait, I finally got to see you on the monitor and you was look straight at me, the nurse then turned the screen so Mummy could see and you had rolled onto your back sucking your thumb, but as Mummy looked you bounced onto your side as if you didn’t want to see her. In light of this we have changed your name from Little Bear to Wriggly Bear. Can’t wait to meet you.

  • The Family Announcements

We decided to choose Christmas Day and Boxing Day to tell the family about you.

We told your Nanny Helen after we opened presents, not long after we went to London to pick her up and bring her to our place. Your Nanny Helen lives in London, in the same house your Mummy was brought up in.

When we arrived at your Daddy’s cousin Becky’s house, we asked your Nanny Flo and Grandad Ernie if they could come outside as we wanted them to know before everyone else. Then, once we were settled inside and tucking into our Boxing Day lunch, your Daddy told the rest of the family. All 11 of them. The dinner table is very busy on Boxing Day, but we are sure we can squeeze in another spot for you. By the way, your cousin Jayden thinks your should be a boy.

Everyone is very excited to know you are coming. Your Daddy and I are very much looking forward to your first scan tomorrow morning! Exactly this time tomorrow in fact. We can’t wait to see you for the first time, we are so lucky that we have heard your little heartbeat already!

  • Midwife Appointment

Ok, not spoken to you yet as your Mummy has been hogging the blog. As you can guess this is Daddy, not very good at this blogging stuff so bare with me. Today we went to see the midwife to confirm if you were really in there, after a short conversation with Sharon (our midwife), she suggested we try and hear your heartbeat, well much to mine and your Mummy’s amazement there it was, strong and in rhythm. Put a lump in my throat and made your Mummy cry. We now have lots of books and leaflets to plow through to prepare for you arrival.

  • One Week To Go…

…until my first midwife appointment. Next Wednesday we hope to get some confirmation you actually exist, because in all honesty, I’m still not convinced. I’m sorry.

Gross fact alert! I haven’t had a period since that 3-day bleed back in October. I’ve been late before, but never missed one. Signs are pointing to yes, along with 4 positive pregnancy tests, and all the other symptoms.

It’s been a bit sucky not being able to drink during the build up the Christmas. I’ve been telling everyone I’ve got a chest infection and on antibiotics. I don’t like lying, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, but when we tell everyone the truth, they will understand why we did it.

I am really hoping we get some confirmation next week. Your Dad will be with me – fingers crossed they are able to do a scan as well. We can’t wait to see you on that little screen.

  • The Inital Doctors Appointment

Since I had only just registered for the Doctor after your Dad and I moved into our house 8 weeks ago, we were still finding our feet. Decided to kill two birds with one stone and get the test kit whilst we were here. I digress…as we’d just registered as soon as I took the test, I had to wait a few days before I could book an appointment, it’s now Friday and I simply couldn’t wait any longer, I needed to know if this was all true. I called the Doctor this morning and booked an appointment – 1:20pm.

I got down there and it wasn’t quite what I expected. I thought I would get a confirmation test, perhaps even a blood test. There was nothing. He was just interested in my last period date, and ticked off some nutritional advice from a list on his screen. Asked me if I smoke or drank. For the record I’ve never smoked, but drinking, yes I did, until about a week before I did the test. He advised me to book an appointment for the midwife and wrote me a prescription for folic acid. That was it. I was none the wiser whether or not I was actually pregnant. He said that the over the counter tests were so accurate, they are confident of your test being positive – you are pregnant. I’m afraid to say Little One that I’m still not sure. According to his calculations, I’m 9 weeks along. Eek!

I came home and told your Dad the good news. He’s looking forward to meeting you.

We think you will be a girl, and we want to call you Lara.

My midwife appointment is 21st December. Let’s see what happens.

I’m getting some shooting stabbing pain down there. Hope you’re ok.

  • The Pregnancy Tests

I was getting all sorts of weird symptoms and had no explanation for them, so to rule it out we brought a pregnancy test from the chemist.

I popped upstairs, did what you need to do, waited 3 minutes and there they were…two lil blue lines. A fluke your Dad and I thought, so I guzzled about a litre of water and had another go, same again, 2 lil lines.

What you don’t realise is that about 8 years ago, I had an infection that caused one of my ovaries to enlarge, causing damage to both of my tubes. For health reasons I had one removed, and the other remained, declared as too damaged to be useful. I was told I would never conceive naturally. Yet here we are with now 4 positive pregnancy tests.

We had to be sure, so we went a bought another pack, a different make this time with conception indicator. Positive again, twice, 3+ weeks. Twice. I couldn’t actually believe it. After you’re told you can’t, it’s all you believe. Time to book an appointment to see the Doctor.
